Behind the serene facade of Time + Tide’s renowned seasonal bush camps lies a meticulous process, a dance between nature and craftsmanship. Building each seasonal camp from the ground up for Safari Season in the South Luangwa, from mid-May to mid-November. Our seasonal camps blend seamlessly into the natural environment, ensuring each guest’s experience is nothing short of magical. Join us as we unveil the secrets of our seasonal build, the heartbeat of our sustainability efforts, and the unique charm that sets each camp apart.
Weeks before our camps open their doors to guests, our dedicated team embarks on a journey of transformation. Led by seasoned experts, including the Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager, and Camp Manager, a comprehensive assessment of the upcoming season’s needs is conducted, and every detail is meticulously planned. This year, our preparations began six weeks ahead, allowing ample time for major projects, such as refurbishing accommodations and revamping communal spaces. The effort and care put into building the camps is equal to the process of their deconstruction at the end of every season — ensuring that we tread lightly and leave minimal impact on the surrounding environment.
With the Zambian sun as our guide, the hands of local artisans breathe life into our camps. Working tirelessly, our team weaves together natural materials sourced from the surrounding community, infusing each structure with a sense of place and purpose. From the rustic charm of grass and reeds to the sturdy embrace of locally harvested wood, every element tells a story of sustainability and stewardship. Our team’s dedication ensures that the camps rise anew, ready to embrace the wonders of the wilderness once more.
Our commitment to minimising our ecological footprint is woven into the very fabric of our operations. Through extensive use of solar power, eco-friendly building practices, and conscientious resource management, we strive to leave the lightest possible mark on the land we call home. By harnessing the power of nature, we not only preserve the pristine beauty of the wilderness but also foster a deeper connection between our guests and the environment.
Step into a world where luxury and wilderness converge, where every camp offers a unique invitation to explore and unwind.
As the final touches are put in place and the wilderness awakens, we eagerly anticipate the arrival of our guests this Safari Season. At Time + Tide, every season brings new stories, new adventures, and a timeless promise of luxury in the heart of Africa. Welcome to our world — where the journey begins and the memories last a lifetime.
