Attention: Explorers, Discoverers, Adventurers

Follow us on the road less travelled to Zambia’s wild heart, where Safari Season is in full swing and our seasonal camps are ready to welcome you to the unspoiled wilderness of the South Luangwa.

This year our seasonal camps have been reimagined, bringing you even closer to the wonders of the wild. In keeping with the essence of Time + Tide, every camp has been designed to reconnect guests with the natural world by providing an immersive, authentic experience. Discover a diverse tapestry of habitats, from the ancient ebony forests to the open pans of the South Luangwa, where each of our four seasonal camps occupies a unique setting, from an intimate river lagoon frequented by wildlife to a lofty perch along a sweeping curve of the Luangwa River. Panoramic views, open-air design, natural light, and organic materials bring the beauty of the South Luangwa to every moment of your stay.

Seasonal camp refurbishment: Time + Tide Zambia

Mirroring their unique locations and individual stories, each camp’s design has developed its own distinctive personality. From Kakuli’s modern masculinity and storied history to Mchenja’s elegant romance, from the traditional reeded rooms of Nsolo to the all-new vintage-inspired tent safari style of Luwi – each has their own look, yet all share the same ethos and are underpinned by the same warm and generous Zambian hospitality. With no more than five rooms at each seasonal camp, guests can enjoy an exclusive and personal experience.

Further enhancing the experience, our rooms aren’t made only for retreating from activities but extend the entire experience in camp, creating intimate spaces where guests can connect with their environment in a more immersive way. A private picnic set-up is provided per room at Mchenja with the option to laze on the lawns in front of their riverside rooms with front-row seats to excellent game-viewing set against a backdrop of beautiful views of the South Luangwa, or enjoy the Kakuli’s beautiful swing outside each room to watch as wildlife arrive at the water’s edge.

Seasonal camp is refurbed in Zambia

Guests can customise their safari itinerary with one or two camps, or combine them all into the ultimate adventure circuit. The South Luangwa is known as the home of the walking safari, a legacy that is deeply rooted in the essence of Time + Tide. For generations our Zambian guides have walked guests between each seasonal camp, encouraging them to pause, slow down and ‘touch the earth’. With a spirit of adventure, the real kind, that wildly ignites your senses, allowing you to breathe deeply again and feel fully alive. A fully-immersive experience, such as the signature Time + Tide Sleepout – an adventurous addition to any safari, where you will fall asleep under a canopy of a million twinkling stars while listening to the susurrations of the nighttime bush.

Through our refurbishment we have also expanded on our offering, welcoming multigenerational families and children of all ages in camp. Furthermore, we ensure that our guests experience Zambia’s rich culture and wildlife in an authentic way, with new excursions allowing guests to witness the contribution their stay makes to the community and conservation initiatives run by our Foundation. Together we tread lightly with great impact in some of the world’s most wild, remote, and beautiful destinations.

Family on safari in Zambia with Time + Tide

Come, let us show you…

Time + Tide Mchenja

Time + Tide Mchenja embodies classic romance and an intimate experience, enhanced by the ebony grove in which the camp is set in with the Luangwa River, providing spectacular views and the ideal spot to enjoy a private picnic.  The camp’s new furnishings throughout has gained a fresh, feminine, and elegant look with distinctive reference to the nymphaea lily of the area. With rooms and the main area being open and spacious allowing guests to be truly connected and immersed in nature surrounding the camp.

Time + Tide Kakuli

A bold and striking camp as its name suggests, Kakuli (meaning lone buffalo bull) is a tribute to Norman Carr and the history of the area. Furnishings throughout incorporate a strong use of steel, wood, and tribal African prints. A completely different feeling is conveyed through this more modern and masculine approach, with structures remaining a combination of reed, canvas, and thatch. Like Mchenja, the rooms and main area remain open and spacious and the focal point is the river frontage providing striking views. The experience will be more inclusive and communal, with an intimate main area Kakuli aims to create a more lively atmosphere.

Time + Tide Luwi

Luwi is a brand-new tented camp bringing the old-world exploration style of safari to life. With only four tents set amongst the raw wilderness, Luwi offers an intimate experience that remains authentic and more rustic, whilst having the convenience of charge stations, well-lit tents and comfortable beds.  Luwi’s setting is ideal to enjoy moments around the campfire in the early morning making jaffles over the hot coals to evenings listening to the sounds of the Luangwa.

To Nava and the entire team, thank you for your gracious hospitality. Thank you for going the extra mile to ensure we had a comfortable and memorable stay. The food was delicious, with fresh, local ingredients prepared to perfection. We can't recommend Tsara Komba highly enough.”
Shetil, Guest at Time + Tide Tsara Komba
"The uniqueness of being in a camp with only four safari tents is the ultimate feeling of luxury.  Luwi overlooks a wide open grassland that on my first morning we watched a high speed chase - a pack of Wilddogs on a hunt.  It was exhilarating to watch and sent our heart rates through the sky adding a lot of chatter and laughter once the pack had passed by."
Jessica, Guest at Time + Tide Luwi
"The authenticity and remoteness of the seasonal camps will be a special experience that I will long to return to.  There really is no place on earth that you can really escape like you can at the seasonal camps.  Falling asleep at Kakuli to the distant lion roars and waking to the call of the fish eagle - really what a magical walking safari!"
Lara, Guest at Time + Tide Kakuli
"This is the most magical place you're ever likely to experience. Nestled under a grove of imposing Albida trees, it is clearly favoured by the many elephant who graze on the Albida pods. Their presence adds an incredibly special energy to the camp. "
Charles, Guest at Time + Tide Chongwe Camp
"To my sheer joy and amazement, I walked into the main camp area one morning after sleeping in, to witness a herd of elephants crossing the Luangwa River. I was alone in camp at the time and that sighting will be the highlight of my trip to Africa… somehow, the solitude, the sound of the beautiful animals swishing through the water and me being the only one to witness it made it quite a spiritual experience."
Robyn, Guest at Time + Tide Mchenja
"Our family had the most joyful time at Chongwe, really everything was perfect and every detail taken care of. The team ensured we had the best time at every activity (even tiger fishing!). We felt privileged to spend a few days here and look forward to returning."
Richard, Guest at Time + Tide Chongwe
"Our stay at Nsolo was truly unforgettable! We were captivated by the authentic and secluded setting, and the sleepout under the stunning African stars was the absolute highlight of our trip. We highly recommend this unique experience to anyone looking for an adventure off the beaten path."
Lotte, Guest at Time + Tide Nsolo
"Chinzombo is a stunning lodge in a beautiful location of the South Luangwa. The rooms are luxurious and spacious, with a deck and plunge pool overlooking the Luangwa River. There is always an abundance of wildlife around the rooms, we had a banded mongoose, bushbuck, elephants and hippo's - just to name a few."
Michael, Guest at Time + Tide Chinzombo
